Find the hook end of one of the lower hinge wires.

Gently pull the hook, removing it from the hinge loops.

You may need to gently twist the hinge wire as dirt and debris could be lodged in the hinge joints. (DO NOT force the wire as it may bend or damage the hinge joints)

Once the hinge wire is removed it can be cleaned with damp cloth or fine sandpaper if caked with dirt.

Take care with the hinge wire once removed as even slight bends will make it difficult to insert back into the trap.
